Imagine meeting your colleagues, stakeholders and team in one spot where you can not only collaborate at the round table but also view, and walk around, your entire project before the slab has even been poured.
Sounds good right? Throughout Australia we have several companies focused on providing these services. One of them, located in Melbourne, is One to One Displays.
This young business offers innovative floor plan projection services where clients can walk through a life-sized, interactive layout of their project.
Jobsite ANZ spoke with the company’s co-founder Marian Rafael. “We cater for projects of all sizes including residential, warehouse, and commercial builds. Our projection warehouse fits 300m2 in one go, and then we can shift to the next part for bigger builds.
“This concept is a real opportunity to save both time and money. By actually seeing, and navigating the floor plan, clients can detect issues and make changes at a much earlier stage compared to traditional methods. The floor plan projection takes the stress and uncertainty out of designing homes.”
The main purpose of floor plan projection technology is to experience true-to-scale plans and fully understand the design’s dimensions and details before any works begin.
When it comes to residential builds, many clients have trouble interpreting floor plans. This adds a lot of unnecessary stress in the early stages of a project. Projection Technology allows clients to see what their home will look like and realise any discrepancies before it’s too late.
For contractors and builders, it’s a unique way to collaborate and provide an immersive and exciting experience for their clients.
One To One Displays works with small, medium and large builders throughout Melbourne as well as Architects, Interior Designers, Property Developers and Real Estate Agents across residential and commercial markets. They’re also open to the general public—anyone can engage their services and have virtual floor plans ready to go within days.
This technology is really beneficial to project home builders who really can’t afford to build every home as a stage home.
“We are really excited about what we offer at One to One Displays and hope to collaborate with others to make this product available to the vast majority.
“This technology is really beneficial to project home builders who really can’t afford to build every home as a stage home. Floor plan projection means they can show their clients the project home and also include fly-throughs for the best representations,” said Rafeal.
According to Rafael, the vertical facade screen is the true favourite amongst clients. Displayed on a 10 x 6 projection, all to scale, clients can view the exact height of the front door or experience the kitchen elevation. For example, clients can consider the location of the kitchen bench in relation to the dishwasher space. It’s the perfect opportunity to work out the finer details prior to any joinery commencing.
“Construction normally requires significant investment. For homeowners, in particular, it’s often the biggest financial investment they will ever make. We are not only about saving time and money for our clients but also offering peace of mind and confidence during the early stages of a build.”
Experts are saying that virtual projection could potentially save buyers tens of thousands of dollars by allowing for changes to be made before the first subbie is even on site. These savings come from the chance to spot potential problems and identify all necessary changes during the initial design phase. Alterations made during the construction phase usually prove to be quite expensive and time-consuming.
For some, the next step in build projections is Virtual Reality, Mixed (Augmented) Reality, or 3D Modelling.
With this type of technology available and clients having the opportunity to check whether everything matches their expectations, we may never hear the dreaded words ‘It doesn’t look like I imagined’ ever again.
