Procore Unveils Drawing Management Solution
Cloud-Based Construction Software Provider Adds Interactive Drawing Management Functionality to Their Comprehensive Project Management Platform
CARPINTERIA, Calif., May 20, 2015 — Procore, a leader in construction management software, today announced their drawing management solution now offers optical character recognition (OCR), the ability to manage drawings by area, advanced mark up capabilities, Real Time As-Builts®, and hyperlinking to documents, submittals, RFIs, and punch items.
As construction drawings undergo mark ups and changes, it's essential that project team members have access to current project plans. Redlining, reprinting, and redistributing paper-based drawings is expensive and time-consuming. Procore saves users thousands of dollars in printing costs and manual distribution of new drawing sets.
As drawings are uploaded, Procore uses patent-pending optical character recognition (OCR) to automatically detect the name, number, and discipline of each set while splitting sheets—saving businesses hours in processing costs. Procore then scans each drawing for detail callouts and automatically links them to related drawings. Once drawings are uploaded, they can be marked up, viewed in fullscreen mode, and automatically shared with the project team.
Procore now gives users the ability to group drawing sets, separating drawings with the same numbers into their respective building or area. Jeanine Soriano from Flatiron Construction is looking to better manage complex projects including multi-segment highway and railway projects with Procore. She says, "We're very excited about this feature. We have about 65 projects in Procore so far. Many of them are complex, with multiple bridges and layout sheets having the same drawing numbers. The ability to separate drawings within a project allows us to leverage Procore to its fullest extent."
Procore's cloud-based platform with native apps for iOS and Android offers unrivaled drawing management functionality. From within the drawing, users can link documents and submittals, create RFIs, drop punch items, and link to other drawings. Drawings can be annotated with clouds, highlights, arrows, and text, which are automatically transferred to new revisions. iPad and iPhone users can simply swipe up and down to view revisions and manage drawings offline; all changes sync automatically when back online.
"Our goal was to simplify the entire process from start to finish and enable our users to upload thousands of drawings without having to spend all their time labeling, printing, and distributing them. Procore's latest drawing release does just that while enabling users to collaborate to create Real Time As-Builts," says Will Lehrman, Group Product Manager at Procore.
