Simplifying processes and gaining a competitive edge
Tino Mechanical thrives using Procore’s Resource Management, Financial Management, and Project Execution solutions
The Challenge
Established in 2019, Tino Mechanical, a mechanical subcontractor in British Columbia, needed a way to simplify its processes and gain a competitive edge. The company knew that implementing technology would help standardize and centralize its project, workforce, and financial management processes, but its current solution was not enabling it to drive business outcomes. Tino Mechanical decided to seek out a more robust platform that had a complete solution for subcontractors, so it partnered with Procore and never looked back.
The Solution
By implementing Procore, Tino Mechanical has effectively streamlined its operations, increased collaboration internally and externally, and drastically improved productivity in the field. As the company continues to grow, Procore's centralized solution helps the company ensure that it operates at peak efficiency, delivering projects on time and with the highest quality standards.
“Imagine how much better the visibility is going to be throughout bidding compared to other subcontractors in your market who aren't leveraging the insights Procore provides. It basically gives you an automated forecast of how you could potentially deliver against a certain bid for a project.”

Enhanced Collaboration, Accountability, and Credibility
Shortly after opening Tino Mechanical in 2019, Founder and Director of Construction, Piero Iamartino, knew that he needed to implement software that would centralize information and encourage efficiency within the company. He had seen Procore used by general contractors (GCs) time and time again, and as such, was able to explore it himself. So, when choosing the right solution for his company, it was a no-brainer. As Iamartino stated, “There were all of these other options I didn't see much value in, because they were never the full package. Procore gives you everything in one app, which makes sense to have — especially as you grow. It’s a one-stop shop for drawings, markups, collaboration, RFIs, change orders and more.”
Procore’s all-in-one solution has been a transformative tool for fostering collaboration, alignment, and accountability between Tino Mechanical and its GCs. As Iamartino emphasized, "When we have that perfect kind of sync with the GC on the same platforms, and it's managed properly, it really helps significantly." This shared utilization and familiarity with Procore has resulted in improved project coordination, and has reduced potential delays or rework due to miscommunications.
With Procore, teams have the digital tools they need to properly document and capture critical information right from the job site. This level of accountability and assurance has been a game-changer. Iamartino commented, "If we were ever to have any issues with a GC or on a project, it’s nice to know that as long as we have all of our documentation, we’re good to go." This meticulous documentation not only helps protect Tino Mechanical in case of disputes or litigations, but also reflects the company's commitment to professionalism and transparency. The availability of comprehensive records gives Tino Mechanical a competitive edge, demonstrating its reliability as a subcontractor and instilling confidence in its clients and partners.
Better Processes, More Visibility, and Increased Efficiency
With the recent growth of the company, increasing efficiency was vital — not only so projects could be done in a more timely manner, but also, so it could always ensure high-quality results. As Iamartino had hoped, Tino Mechanical has streamlined critical processes and gained efficiencies since implementing Procore. Highlighting this, he stated, "The check-in process, the project management process, the ease of getting reports and the customization behind it — it's second to none. Once the processes are in place, it's hard to duplicate that in any other system. Procore really moves and bends to your needs.” The biggest indicator of this, for Iamartino, is the fact that over 60 percent of the phone calls he used to receive regarding ongoing projects have disappeared.
The ease of accessing project data, whether it be in the office or in the field, has been a key factor in Tino Mechanical's improved efficiency. Iamartino explained, "It’s really good because they can download everything they need, even if they’re offline." With instant access to relevant documents and drawings, as well as a way to quickly and easily communicate with other stakeholders, field teams no longer have to wait on downloads, updates, or whatever else they may need to perform their jobs and make informed decisions. Iamartino noted, “Work isn’t stalled because now, information flows. From the availability of project-specific information, to bidding and budgeting, we’re able to be much more efficient.”
A Reliable, Scalable Technology Partner
Being a new subcontracting business, Tino Mechanical needed something that was both cost-effective and scalable, which it found with Procore. Iamartino stated, "You can add or subtract as many users as you need. So, as you're growing, you're only paying based on the actual projects that you're delivering to the marketplace, and that's the beauty of it."
Additionally, Procore provides valuable insights and analytics that fuel data-driven decision-making. Iamartino spoke to the positive impacts these insights have had on the company’s efficiency, stating, "I wanted to have something that could grow with us, and Procore was the one solution that was able to bridge our gap, internally — to keep the processes going both within the office and out on the sites." Procore's ability to integrate data from various sources and present it in a coherent, easily accessible way has equipped Tino Mechanical with the power to optimize its processes continuously.
Software for Subs — Not Just for GCs
Although Procore is often thought of as a tool aimed specifically toward GCs, Iamartino pointed out, “I hear subcontractors in our markets here in Canada saying, ‘I don't need Procore because I use it through my GC.’ However, that only gives you document control; you’ve got nothing on the back end in those cases. So yeah, it is a GC tool, but it’s also a sub-trade tool.”
With its own Procore account, Tino Mechanical has streamlined its own internal workflows between office and field, and improved productivity across operations and finance teams. Leveraging the Resource Management and Financial Management solutions in addition to the Project Execution solution means that Tino Mechanical’s teams are fully optimized to maximize productivity, improve performance, and protect their bottom line. This type of business transformation is impossible to achieve if you’re just accessing Procore through a client’s account.
